6.0.4 works… But it fails to download models now that it seems to pick up on the fact that the licence is invalid. Would probably work if the models were already there and downloaded. But I’m sticking with 6.0.3 for the meantime.

Project Starlight is added but don’t work, you must buy the original for 285,43 Euro.
Also bugs have been fixed in 6.1, including the preview rendering. So it’s worth it even without Starlight, which nobody needs by the way, as it’s currently no better than the existing models, just more expensive!
Topaz wants to switch to a subscription model in the cloud, as it earns more from this than from buying the software once. I expect that there will no longer be any offline models from version 7.0 onwards. Therefore, you should still download all the models and then save them well 😉

I checked the forums, no other people complained, is it just me or is it because its cracked that there is like a 30-45second delay in importing a video to edit? There is no crack for the final version at the moment. Topaz also shows “Checking License”, but the crack blocks this.

there is no such thing as RC in Topaz.
Topaz only has a Beta version (or alpha) and Release versions.
“RC”, is a made up name that Alex invented, to differentiate between release version and the “Dummy” one version up auto update testing version. he said it him self few months ago on his telegram channel, that he will name it RC to avoid confusion.
You can even see it for yourself. never was there a new functionality on those one version up from release.
Only the files with “b” (beta) has new functionality, e.g.6.2.0.0.b
Topaz runs Beta up to release. They never adopted the Release Candidate concept. Each Beta iteration, they bump the sub version up. e.g. “6.2.0.1.b, 6.2.0.2.b, 6.2.0.3.b”, and so on.
Once they feel comfortable with the latest Beta, this beta becomes the release (e.g. 6.2.0.5.b -becomes-> 6.2.0).
Then , before they push the update, they do a copy of the 6.2.0 and rename the copy to 6.2.1 (including the EXE file binary version tag) and test the Auto update on their machines. once all cleared, they push out the 6.2.0 update to the public.
that is also why you see the 6.2.1 appears always at the same time of released version.

The crack for Version 6.2.1 is not working
Version 6.2.2 is not working, goes straight to signup.
v7 crack is not working. Upon trying to export videos, the “Buy a license” window pops up, asking me to either buy/activate license or continue with watermark. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it twice. Also, the top-right corner of the application continuously displays “Checking license…”
Update: Interestingly, if I choose “Continue with watermark” while using the Proteus model, the video exports without any watermark. However, when exporting using the Starlight Mini model, the export process hangs on “Loading model.” This isn’t an issue with the trial versions of v7 beta, where the Starlight Mini model works fine, with a watermark, of course. So it seems the crack may be partially functioning.

I was getting a watermark until I followed the instructions above; however I find the starlight model tends to significantly darken the video output (both the watermarked version and the unlocked one) not sure whats causing that problem. Anyone else?
Yep, same problem here. I believe the darkness comes from how the watermark is removed in the cracked version. The trial/unactivated version doesn’t just add the Topaz logo in the middle, it also places a semi-transparent black overlay across the entire video to make the watermark harder to bypass. The crack seems to remove the logo but leaves that overlay behind. So even though the watermark is technically gone, the video still looks darker because the overlay is still there.
From my testing, it seems like this dark overlay exists for the Starlight Mini model only.

Thank you for the instructions! After following these, I am still getting the “Buy a license” pop-up when trying to export. When I click “Continue with watermark,” unlike previously, it does start the export process, but there is a dark overlay on the video, at least when using Starlight Mini.
You might want to try uninstall it completely and reinstall following the instructions suggested, that worked for me anyway; everything works perfectly fine except for the dim starlight problem; also says checking license but that doesn’t seem to be a problem.
I think I did exactly that, i.e. uninstalled the program along with configuration files, reinstalled it, started the program, loaded a video, selected Starlight Mini, let it download, closed the program, applied the crack, started the program again.
But anyway, the “Buy a license” pop-up is still not that much of a problem for me since there is no watermark on the exported videos when I click “Continue with watermark”. It is the dark overlay on the exports with Starlight Mini that is bothering me.
It gets stuck downloading the Starlight mini model, and it also doesn’t download some of the models

You can use Brave browser. Once open, press Alt+Shift+N. It’ll open a private window with Tor enabled. There, you can access the blocked sites.
Ok i have managed to download it but even after installing the starlight-mini first from inside topaz and the installing the afterpatch the starlight model hangs at Loading model.
Check your Task Manager to see if your GPU is being utilized above 90%. If it is, nothing to worry about. The Starlight Mini model takes a bit of time the very first time you run it.
In case you’re not familiar with Task Manager, you can also tell it is working if the fans on your GPU get louder.

Well my GPU was indeed working at 100% load but after 3 hours and 57 minutes of Loading Model I had to stop it

The comparison videos and screenshots I have seen posted by the community on the Topaz Forum, I don’t see this darkness there at all. From what I can tell, this problem only appears in videos exported using Starlight Mini in the trial and cracked versions.
As for the “haze” you mentioned, that likely refers to the softer look of the videos. Unlike models such as Artemis, Starlight doesn’t apply as much sharpening, which gives the output a smoother appearance.

Ok there are some reports of the darkening in topaz forum now, so the crack works and is just a bug, better for next version i guess.

Not a bug. One of the staff members on the forum confirms later that the darkening is because of watermark. It seems like Starlight Mini uses a custom watermark that is stored in a different location and completely separate from the watermark used by other models in the trial version. Those posting on the forum with dark results are either on a cracked or trial version.
But it looks like Aleksey Popovv managed to fix both the darkening and the watermark. He hasn’t released the crack yet, though.

Edit: He has finally shared a fix. You need to replace the runner.exe in “C:>ProgramData>Topaz Labs LLC>Topaz Video AI>models” folder with the one shared on his channel today. I can confirm that after doing this, there is no watermark or darkness now with Starlight Mini.

I can’t get the starlight mini to work. When i try to install the afterpatch (after i’ ve already downloaded the starlight mini from within topaz) it shows that it starts installing but as soon as the bar starts filling up the installation windows closes immediately. Then i try to use starlight mini on one of my videos and it gets stuck at loading model for eternity and i have a very powerful pc. 13900k, rtx 4090, 64gb ram
Uninstall it first, and be sure to check off remove all data and models, this will give you a clean slate; reinstall; before patching download the star model, then run the after patch.
