Intel NPU drivers are the software that lets Windows talk to the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) built into modern Intel processors.
Without this driver installed, the NPU shows up as an unknown device in Device Manager and AI features in many apps will fall back to the CPU or GPU, or simply not work.

What this driver does
- Enables the NPU (listed as “Intel AI Boost” in Device Manager)
- Provides the OpenVINO runtime that many NPU-accelerated apps depend on
- Lets the NPU handle background AI tasks at low power instead of loading up the CPU or GPU
- Fixes the yellow exclamation mark next to “Intel AI Boost” in Device Manager
